Abstract
1,064,258. Programmed control of machine tools. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. Dec. 10, 1963 (Dec. 11, 1962], No.48712/63. Heading G3N. In a numerical control system wherein an element of a machine tool is displaced by programmed sequential movement along co-ordinate axes, the sense of the corrections for the radius of a cutter are programmed with the co-ordinate values and condition the application of a manually set cutter radius value to the movement control. As shown, a programme for sequential X, Y or Z axis movement is read by a reader LS and the instructions and addresses are fed in succession to intermediate stores ZS and then simultaneously at a preselected moment to working stores SA. The stores SA comprise a store WS receiving the travel instructions, a store KBS receiving the co-ordinate value and a store KAS receiving the co-ordinate address, x, y or z. A number 1, 2 or 3 appears at the output of the store WS which is indicative of whether the radius, set manually in a device FH, is to be applied by a circuit AS to the co-ordinate value from the store KBS as a negative, positive or zero adjustment. The adjusted co-ordinate value is applied to a comparison member VG together with a measured value from a transducer MX, MY or MZ selected by a change-over switch MU responsive to a signal from the address store KAS.
