Abstract

106,402. Iorns, C. A. Sept. 25, 1916. Tyre and like inflating valves; dust-caps for tyre valves; expanding-plug valves.-Relates to valves, more particularly the inflating valves of pneumatic tyres, of the kind comprising two resilient valve members coacting with oppositelydisposed seats. The valve members 29, 35 seat on opposite ends of a screwed hollow sleeve 30, the lower member 29 being carried by the stem 25 and the upper member 35 by a cap 41 which screws on the end of the stem 25 to seat the valves and to distend them laterally against the inner walls of the enclosing casing. The valve stem is squared, at 24, to prevent rotation, and is surrounded by a spring 28 enabling the lower valve 29 to act as the normal inflation valve. The cap 41 is formed with a square key 45 to engage the hole in the tubular sleeve 30 to facilitate assembling. A bead 51 on the valve stem 25 ensures the unseating of the lower valve when the stem is depressed.
