Abstract

1,063,613. Sliding clasp fastenings. LIGHTNING FASTENINGS Ltd. April 20, 1965 [June 2, 1964], No. 22780/64. Heading E2S. A stringer for a sliding clasp fastener of the concealed coupling element type comprises a carrier tape 2 and a series of U-shaped coupling elements 3 formed from a plastics filament with interlocking portions 4, the coupling elements being secured to the tape adjacent one longitudinal edge 8 thereof, and the tape, in a lateral cross-section having a first portion 9 extending between the limbs of the coupling elements and away from the interlocking portions, a first fold 11 to provide a second portion 12 extending from the fold 11 towards the interlocking portions, and a second fold 14 to provide a third portion 15 opposing the second portion and forming a channel 16 therewith. As shown, a slider 17 having a body 18 which straddles the two series of elements is slidably received within the channels 16 of the carrier tapes and the plastics filament is secured to the carrier tapes by stitching 10 and 13.
