[Also in Division G3] The flow of gas from an inlet to a vacuum plant is controlled by a spring-loaded electromagnetically-actuated lift-valve, the solenoid of which is supplied with alternating or interrupted current and which may include a superimposed direct-current component. The valve is periodically operated in dependence upon the amplitude and/or waveform of the supply current. The maximum stroke of the valve is determined by an adjustable abutment.
