Abstract
1,063,281. Work guides; rolling. DISTINGTON ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. March 2, 1965 [March 10, 1964], No. 10134/64. Headings B3M and B3W. A sheet positioning apparatus comprises four edge guiding rollers 12 each mounted on a bell-crank 13, each crank being pivoted at 14 and carrying a further roller 24. The longer arms of each pair of cranks are connected by an hydraulic jack 15. A third hydraulic jack 20 is mounted between two cross-heads 21, which run on guide rails 22 and which each carry projections 23 which engage the further rollers 24. Operation.-With the jacks 15 fully extended sheet material is introduced between the edge guiding rollers 12. Hydraulic fluid is admitted to the jacks to close the rollers 12 on to the edges of the sheet. The rise in fluid pressure which occurs when the rollers 12 contact the edges of the sheet shuts a valve which locks the jacks 15. At the same time hydraulic fluid is admitted to extend the jack 20. The projections 23 engage the further rollers 24 and swing the cranks so that the sheet is moved to a desired central position.
