Ribbed knitted fabric RF is run on to points 2a projecting radially from a driven wheel 2, points 2a inter-registering with points 1a on a driven carrier 1, whereby the fabric is transferred from points 2a to points 1a. Carrier 1 may be either the point dial of a linking machine or a transfer bar in a knitting machine.
