Abstract
1,062,965. Refrigerators. SIEMENS-ELECTROGERATE G.m.b.H. July 15, 1964, No. 29150/64. Heading F4H. A compressor type refrigerator has a wire ribbed evaporator 9 built into an upper low-temperature cooling compartment 2, the refrigerant ducts 10 of the evaporator extending in a vertical plane and the evaporator having an L or preferably, as shown, U- shaped transverse cross-section' with the limbs directed towards the door 11. A drip channel 12 of the same L- or U-shape is placed below the evaporator and has limbs 13 and 14 about a goods accommodating surface formed by a grid 25, the said cooling compartment being closed by a hinged flap 15. A heat-circulating wall 4 separates the low-temperature cooling compartment from an ordinary cooling compartment 3 and has apertures 5 and 6 provided with thermostatically controlled flaps 7 and 8. The drip channel 12 has a gradient with an outlet pipe 20 for melted ice leading to a vessel 21 or to the exterior of the refrigerator via a pipe 22 through the cabinet 1. A conduit 26 through which hot refrigerant gases may pass is used during defrosting operations, and is in contact with the drip channel keeping it free from ice. Heat rising from the conduit 26 also melts the ice on the evaporator walls, the water running down the vertical wires 27. Fig. 3 shows the drip channel 109 formed in the insulating separation wall 106, the upper surface 108 of which is used as the goods-accommodating surface. The hot gas conduit 114 is placed in the drip channel and may be held in place by elements 130, Fig. 8 (not shown), or covered with a metal channel 133, Fig. 9 (not shown). The lower temperature cooling compartment may extend over only part of the width of the refrigerator, Fig. 4 (not shown).
