Abstract

[Also in Division F1] Putty or similar plastic material is dispensed from a container 18 into cylinders 23 removably mounted on a plate 20, from which the putty is subsequently extruded, by means of a pneumatically operated piston and cylinder assembly 5, 8. The piston 5 and plate 20 are coupled in spaced relation by means of a rod 2 fixed to a base-plate 1. Introduction of compressed air through inlet 11 raises the cylinder 8 and container 18 relative to the fixed piston and plate 20 to fill the cylinders 23. Movement from the position shown to a position in which a stop ring 16 abuts the piston 5 may dispense the quantity required to fill the cylinders 23. Release of pressure in the assembly 5, 8 allows the container and cylinder to fall to their starting position and the plate 20 to be lowered on the rod 2 and held in place by key 25 for operation to fill fresh cylinders 23. It is suggested that a rigid shell may be provided to surround the walls of the container 18.
