Abstract

1,061,569. Motors with permanent magnet stators. GLOBE INDUSTRIES Inc. Oct. 3, 1963, No. 39066/63. Heading H2A. A stator assembly for a D.C. miniature motor includes a magnetic field structure comprising a permanent magnet 36, e.g. of Alnico, and arcuately formed polepieces 24, 26, the outer surfaces of which structure are covered, with a moulded shroud formed with two bosses 70, 72 each supporting a respective brush holder 74, 76. The holders are retained on the bosses by dimpled areas (102, 104), Fig. 4, and comprise pivoting arms carrying brushes (78), 80 and loaded by springs 82, 84 which also act as shunts bearing against terminals 91, 93 retained in the potting compound (68) forming the shroud. The laminated polepieces are mounted on pins 20, 22 in a mounting plate 1 having holes 2, (4) by which the motor may be mounted into other apparatus and a nut 8 receiving a screw (12) securing a cover 14. In the plate 1 and cover 14, respectively, are a ball and a plastic sleeve bearing 66 mounting the shaft 60 of a conventional rotary armature 40.
