Abstract

1,060,917. Moulding imitation wood articles. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. June 25, 1965, No. 27020/65. Heading B5A. Plastics articles having an imitation wood surface are moulded using a mould having an uneven surface corresponding to wood pitting the article thus formed subsequently being printed with a pattern simulating wood grain. The colour of the plastic material may be the same as that ultimately desired for the pores, or if a different colour is desired the article is sprayed with a suitable die after the pitting but before the printing of the wood grain pattern. As in the Figure (not shown), the mould may comprise a split injection mould one half (2) of which carries a central core (4) whilst the other half (3) carries a corresponding cavity into which fit removable side wall elements (5), (6), (7) and (8) each pitted with a simulated wood design. The injected article is thus formed with a suitably pitted surface.
