Abstract

1,060,790. Protective systems for electric heating pads. VAN DER HEEM N.V. Nov. 4, 1965 [Nov. 17, 1964], No. 46793/65. Heading H2H. A safety circuit to disconnect a faulty electric heating pad having an element 1 controlled by a thermal switch 4, 5 comprises a circuit 10-16 forming a closed path fed by a transformer 3, 10 when contacts 4 are closed and which is supplied directly from the supply in series with the element when contacts 4 are open. The relay 14 interrupts the supply in the event of either a disconnection within the element 1 or a fault between the element and the conductive sheath 2. Smoothing of the half-wave A.C. is provided by a capacitor 16, which also shunts full wave A.C. from the relay in the event of a short circuit between the heater 1 and the sheath 2.
