Abstract
1,060,587. Detecting faults in containers. COMPAGNIE DE SAINT-GOBAIN. Oct. 23, 1964 [Oct. 24, 1963], No. 43343/64. Heading G1M. Apparatus for detecting faults in containers comprises a rigid form 2 which can be introduced into a container to be tested, and which is shaped on its underside to fit the inner face of the container base, plungers 13 normally projecting resiliently from the underside of the form 2 but pushed back into the form when it bears on the bottom of the container, and means to indicate failure of a plunger to be pushed back into the form when the form bears on the container base, to signify that the container is faulty. A member 12, mounted on the rod 3, is dimensioned to fit the top of the container so that the rigid form can only be lowered into the base of the container if the upper dimensions of the container are correct. The plungers are urged downwardly by springs 14 and normally the top end 16 of the plunger makes electrical contact with a part 17 of the rigid form 2. In the working position with no faults on the container base the plungers are pushed upwardly and break the electrical circuit but with any faults at least one of the contacts remains closed.
