Abstract

106,045. Rothwell, J. H., and Roberts, J. Sept. 30, 1916. Miners' safety lamps.-In bonneted Clanny lamps of the kind having two concentric glasses j, j<1> forming an annular air - passage between them, through which the air passes to an air - chamber surrounding the burner, and so to the burner, the air-chamber has a coned or domed top, closed by the junction of the two members l<1>, p, which form the walls of the chamber. Figs. 4 and 5 show two alternative forms of the outer member l<1>; and, as shown in Fig. 1, the inner member p serves to secure the burner m in position. The air enters by the apertures e<1>, and passes through the gauzes h, i beneath the deflector g, thence through a slotted plate q attached to a short-chimney k, between the glasses j, j<1>, and through the air-chamber to the burner. The chimney k separates the inflowing air from the escaping products of combustion &c.
