[Also in Division F1] In a fluid bearing a shaft (3) rotating in a sleeve (1) draws lubricant from a reservoir (4) up a pipe (5) and through holes (2) opening into a groove in the inner surface of the sleeve, the groove having a depth decreasing in the direction of shaft rotation less sharply than in the opposite direction and being positioned beyond, in the direction of shaft rotation, the zone of minimum clearance of the shaft.
