Abstract

A plastics foam composition for filling the end caps of electric incandescent lamps consists of an incompletely condensed phenolic resin and dolomite with one or more fillers or blowing agents such as calcium carbonate, wood flour or gypsum. In examples, mixtures of phenol formaldehyde, hexamethylene tetramine, marble flour and wood flour with or without talc are pressed into rings inserted in the cap and this is heated in situ.
