Abstract
Novel compounds of the general formula <FORM:1060140/C2/1> wherein X and Y represent hydrogen, halogen up to the atomic number 35, or low alkyl or alkoxy groups, Z represents oxygen or sulphur, A represents a straight or branched chain alkylene radical having 2-5 carbon atoms and R represents a low alkyl radical, and their salts with inorganic and organic acids, are prepared by hydrolysing or thermolysing a compound of the general formula <FORM:1060140/C2/2> wherein R1 represents CN or the acyl radical of an organic acid, in particular a carboxylic acid radical or a radical of a monofunctional derivative of carbonic or thiocarbonic acid, and, if desired, converting the reaction product into an acid addition salt. The compounds of the last general formula above are prepared either by reaction of cyanogen bromide with a compound of general formula <FORM:1060140/C2/3> wherein R11 is an alkyl radical or by reaction of a suitable dibenzo[b,f]thiepin-10(11H)-one with a reactive ester of a compound of the general formula <FORM:1060140/C2/4> Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional unit dosage form for oral, rectal, or parenteral administration comprise a compound of the first general formula above, preferably 5 to 50 mg. per unit dose, and an inert carrier.
