[Also in Division F2] In a metal forming machine for making expanded metal, a main drive shaft 26 carries cams 42 which reciprocate a ram 44 fitted with dies 76 (Fig. 2, not shown), in a shuttle bar 70 which is free to move laterally along the ram. The dies 76 are indexed lengthwise relative to dies fixed on the bed 60 by means of an adjustable follower 124 co-operating with a face cam 120 (Fig. 5, not shown) driven by the main shaft 26. The follower 124, which is adjustable relative to the cam to vary the length of the indexing stroke, is connected to the shuttle bar 70 via a lever system. The main shaft also drives a second cam 168 whose follower co-operates with a unidirectional clutch 184 (Fig. 5), which clutch intermittently drives a feed roller 164, which co-operates with an idler roller 166. The main shaft 26 is mounted in bearings 32 which are adjustable vertically.
