Abstract

1,057,748. Furniture legs. P. HEIN. May 15, 1964 [May 17, 1963], No. 20459/64. Headings A4H and A4U. A furniture leg comprises three or more mutually diverging flexible rods joined together at their lower ends and having their upper ends formed for detachable engagement with an article of furniture by first flexing at least one of the elements to permit engagement which is maintained by virtue of the elasticity of the elements. in one embodiment, three or four said elements (1) have radially inturned ends for engagement in holes (4) in an attachment disc (3). Alternatively (Fig. 3) a cross-bar (6) interconnects the tops of two elements and the cross-bar (6) engages a recess (8) defined between an atachment block (7) and the furniture. In another embodiment a pair of cross-bars (6) each extending between two said elements engage grooves formed between wedge blocks (10) and the underside of a table or other furniture, the blocks (10) being secured to or forming an integral part of the table. In another embodiment (Fig. 6) a transverse bar (11) interconnects a pair of legs. In a further embodiment (Fig. 8) the T-section head (13) of a rod element is received by a keyhole slot (15, 16) formed in an attachment plate (14). A pair of legs may support adjacent edges of abutting table tops (Fig. 9), each leg engaging a pair of wedge blocks (10) associated one with each table top.
