Abstract

1,057,267. Article ejecting mechanism. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. April 30, 1965 [May 5, 1964], No. 18263/65. Heading B5A. The base of a mould for use in compression moulding at high pressures consists of a resilient metal diaphragm, of e.g. steel, which is forced downwards against a suitable stop during the pressing operation but which springs back to its original position after release of the pressure, thus freeing the article from the mould walls. In the embodiment shown in the Figure the diaphragm 2 is machined from a steel matrix 1 and is restricted from below by a plinth 3 bolted to the matrix. In alternative embodiments the upward movement of the diaphragm is augmented by a pressure fluid, e.g. oil, introduced thereunder (see Figs. 3-6, not shown) and, if required, a safety means may be incorporated (see Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) by which the fluid may be bled off after the diaphragm has reached a certain point so that any excessive forcing of the diaphragm upwards, and consequent overstraining thereof, is avoided.
