Abstract

1,056,715. Dog harness. OSMOND & OSMOND Ltd. Sept. 13, 1965 [Nov. 26, 1964], No. 48080/64. Heading A1M. [Also in Division E2] A connector 6 for use in a releasable fastener for the ends of a girth band 1a of a safety harness comprises a plate like body having two opposite parallel side edges and two wings 11 projecting one from each side edge in the same sense from and substantially at right angles to the body, each wing having a slot 12 extending substantially parallel to the side edges and in one end portion of the body a third slot 7 extending substantially at right angles to the two first mentioned slots. The connector is used with a pair of slotted plates 13 each adapted to be connected to one end of the girth band 1a and capable of fitting over a respective one of the wings and to be held in place by a flexible tongue 14a attached in use near one end of the girth band and adapted to be passed through the slots 12 of the connector wings. The harness shown is a safety harness for dogs and a strap member engaging the slot 7 connects a pair of side straps 15a to the connector and each of the slotted plates 13 in addition to having a pair of parallel slots for connection to the girth band 1a has a third slot near one end at right angles to the pair of slots each third slot being connected to a respective end of a strap 3b which passes round the dog's neck, the strap 3b and the girth band 1a being connected by a strap (not shown) which in use passes between the dog's fore legs. When the connector is used in a safety harness for infants the strap member passing through the slot 7 provides a pair of shoulder straps the ends of which are connected to the girth band in an adjustable manner. Adjustable side straps having snap hooks at their ends are secured to the girth band for connecting the harness to a chair or pram.
