Abstract

Means for supplying the donning unit and discharging the doffing unit of bobbing exchange apparatus as described in Specification 1,056,182 for spinning machines, comprises a first endless belt for conveying empty bobbins from a hopper to a second, short, endless conveyer, a third, longer, endless conveyer part of which lies parallel to the second conveyer beneath the donning unit, the remainder being disposed beneath the doffing unit, bobbing-holders on the third conveyer, means which act on the holders beneath the donning unit to turn empty bobbins from the levelled to the erected state, and which act on the holders beneath the doffing unit to turn filled bobbins from the erected to the levelled state at the action point of the conveyer, a box for receviing filled bobbins from the conveyer and for transfering them to a receiver. Tranfer of bobbins to the donning apparatus, Fig. 1 not shown. Bobbins are stored in a hopper 62 detachably mounted in a casing and having a plate slidable in guides 64. When the plate is removed, the bobbins can be picked up by a conveyer 66 from which they fall in succession on two driven endless belts 71, 71\sv Fig. 6 (not shown), carrying plates 73, 75, 74 in groups of three. The bobbins come to rest on the middle plates which are spaced from one another to correspond with the spacing of donning grippers 34, and each of which is positioned opposite a pivoted holder 80 on a third conveyer 72 driven at the same speed as belts 71, 71\sv. As a bobbin arrives on a plate 75, the holder 80 is pivoted to the horizontal by a cam-track, a fixed plate inclined across the plates and lying in the path of the nose end of the bobbins, forces the bobbin on to the holder. The cam track now causes the holder to erect the bobbin where it is ceized by a gripper of the donning-apparatus. Transfer of filled bobbins from doffing apparatus to container. The third conveyer 72 is longer than the belts 71, 71\sv on passing the donning unit, the holders are upright ready to receive the bobbins as they are released from the unit. The cam-track now causes the holders to tilt to the horizontal. Beneath the lower run of the conveyer is a box 94 with eight compartments and no base, four compartments being disposed above each of two containers 97. Each compartment has a pivotable plate 96. When eight bobbins are on the lower run of the conveyer above the compartments, they are operated upon by kicker-plates, and the plates 96 being in the full line positions Fig. 11 (not shown), the bobbins are guided through the right hand parts of the compartments on to a plate 108 in the corresponding container. When a further eight bobbins come into position above the box, the kicker plates are again operated and the plates 96 having now moved to their dotted-line positions, the bobbins are guided through the left-hand side of the compartments to fall between the bobbins already on the plate 108. In each compartment, the plate 108 is supported by members 110 Fig. 14, not shown, on threaded rods 111 which can be rotated to lower the plate in stages.
