Abstract

1,056,062. Vehicle anti-theft devices. R. W. HOMEWOOD and W. E. GODDARD. July 8, 1963 [April 6, 1962], No. 13368/62. Heading F1B. [Also in Division G4] A vehicle anti-theft device comprises a switch means 10-12 settable according to a code to disconnect the electric supply line A, a switch RL1/2 closed by closing of the driver's door, to connect the current supply to relay RL2 which operates switches RL2/2, RL2/3 in the circuits of alarm or immobilizing devices, and a delay device TD1 which prevents closing of the circuit of relay RL2 by a switch SW2 operated by opening of the driver's door for a period long enough to allow the driver to de-energize the alarm circuit by resetting the switches 10-12. The relay RL2 controls a switch RL2/2 of an audible alarm and a switch RL2/3 in the ignition circuit. A second relay RL3/1, controlled by a switch SW3 operated e. g. by opening the bonnet or boot lid, controls a switch RL3/2 of a second alarm. When the driver leaves the vehicle, having set switches 10-12 to operative position, closing of his door energizes relay RL1 to close switch RL1/2 to supply current to relay RL2. Any unauthorised opening of the driver's door closes switch SW2 to complete the circuit of relay RL2 which, after the predetermined delay, e.g. 5-10 secs, controlled by device TD1, operates switches RL2/2, RL2/3 to operate an alarm and break the ignition circuit. Alternatively, opening of the bonnet or boot lid causes immediate operation of the alarm switch RL3/2.
