Abstract
C8- 13 cycloalkanones are prepared by passing C8- 13 cycloalkanols at 300-500 DEG C. over a catalyst containing 70-90% Zn compounds, besides Group Ib or IIa metals, oxides or carbonates and optionally alkali metal carbonates or oxides and/or Al, Cr or Fe oxides.ALSO:Catalyst for dehydrogenating cycloalkenols contain 70-90% Zn compounds besides group IB or IIA metals, oxides or carbonates and optionally alkali metal carbonates or oxides and/or Al, Cr or Fe oxides. A particular catalyst contains 79% ZnO, 6.6% CaO, 3.3% K2O, 4.5% Al2O3, 1.4% Cr2O3 and 2.5% SO4. Other specified ingredients are Cu, ZnCO2 and MgCO3. The catalyst may be used in a fluidized bed.
