Abstract

A substrate e.g. film, sheet, tube, bottle, of halogenated oriented polyolefin has an at least one surface a coating comprising a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of from 80 to 97% by weight of a vinylidene chloride with correspondingly from 20 to 3% by weight of a mono-olefinic monomer copolymerizable therewith, examples of which are given. The polyolefin may be polypropylene or copolymers of propylene, examples of which are given, or blends thereof. The coating may be applied as a solvent solution or aqueous dispersion by dipping, brushing, spraying wall coating or gravure coating.
