Abstract
1,055,326. Blow moulding hollow articles with hollow attachments. LACRINOLD PRODUCTS Ltd. June 1, 1965 [June 26, 1964], No. 26654/64. Heading B5A. A hollow attachment for a blow-moulded article is placed in the blowing mould and a recessed core member placed in the attachment, the recess registering with a passage leading from the interior of the attachment to the mould interior; the article is subsequently blow-moulded in the mould. In making a beer barrel with a tap-socket attached thereto in which the socket comprises a hollow cylindrical portion 5 fixed to a disc 9 there being a passage through the disc and cylinder wall into the interior of the cylinder, a core 10 is placed in the cylinder so that a recess 13 in the core registers with the passage. The socket is then placed in a recess 4 in the wall of a mould half. A polythene tube is extruded between the mould halves and air under pressure applied to the interior of the tube from a blowing spigot. The tube expands and the socket becomes firmly embedded in the wall of the barrel so formed. The mould halves are separated, the barrel ejected and the core removed; the material which has been blown into the core recess is removed by a gouge.
