105,526. Watson, H. B., and Billetop, T. C. Dec. 20, 1916. Clutches, friction.-In plate friction clutches for motor-cars, wagons, &c., a central disk E sliding on the driven shaft C is gripped between surfaces a<4>, d<1> on the driving fly-wheel B and a presserplate D connected to the fly-wheel by spring-surrounded studs G screwing into a cover a<7>. The clutch is operated for disengagement by a pedal k<6> operating a non-rotatable casing H actuating the presser-plate D through a ball bearing h<2>. At the end of the disengagement stroke, the casing H engages a plate c<3> adjustably secured on the driven shaft C, and brings the shaft to rest.
