Abstract

1054897 Combine-harvesters NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION 12 Nov 1965 [14 Aug 1964] 33292/64 Headings G3 R4 35X 35M R35X and M A combine harvester has means for sampling the quantity of grain separated from the straw in the straw-walker assembly, as an indication of the grain lost with the straw discharged on to the ground due to overloading of the straw-walker assembly. The sampling arrangement comprises a spout mounted in the base of one of the strawwalkers near its rear end, the spout 35 discharging into a shoot 37 extending through the wall 36 of the harvester-body and delivering to a bag 39 attached to the external end of the shoot. In a modification Fig.4 (not shown) the shoot discharges into a weighing device which can transmit a signal to a visual indicator adjacent to the driver's seat. If desired, the signal can be made to operate driving-controls directly, manual over-riding control, by the driver, being provided.
