Abstract
1,053,752. Rolling. LODGE & SHIPLEY CO. June 25, 1963 [June 29, 1962], No. 25305/63. Addition to 1,016,005. Heading B3M. Metal strip S is rolled to remove crown by moving the strip past a number of disc rollers R spaced longitudinally and transversely of the strip, each roller reducing the thickness of an increment of the strip extending parallel to the strip length. The rollers extend in a line diagonally of the strip, a backing roller BR being positioned beneath each roller R. Guide rollers GR contact one edge of the strip. The rollers may alternatively form two lines extending from the strip centre line to the two edges of the strip. Instead of being in planar form, the strip may be wound around a drum 24 (Fig. 4, not shown), rollers R<SP>1</SP> being spaced along the drum periphery. The drum and/or the rollers may be driven, and a flange adjacent one edge of the drum serves as a strip guide.
