Abstract
1,053,661. Electromagnetic vibrators. UNITED STATES TIME CORPORATION. March 10, 1964 [Feb. 7, 1964], No. 10128/64. Heading H2A. [Also in Division G3] The electromagnetic vibrator forms a time standard for watches and is for connection to a known control and exciter current circuit. Secured to each end of a base 411 is a pair of reeds in the form of an inverted W-shaped plate. The free ends of two opposite reeds are joined by a connection piece 428, and the free ends of the other pair are joined by a connection piece 429. These connection pieces carry co-operating magnet and coil members 454, 442 respectively, and are provided with compensation weights 460, 444, the arrangement being such that the magnet and coil members vibrate substantially in a straight line in the central plane. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the arms of the reeds are arranged longitudinally so that the points of attachment to the connection pieces all lie in a straight line. One connection piece is in the form of a rectangular frame 520.
