1,053,569. Traversing mechanisms. J. HARPE. Oct. 11, 1965, No. 43057/65. Heading D1J. The traversing mechanism comprises a rack member 19, Fig. 2, engaged by two gear pinions 16, 17 mounted on parallel shafts 2, 3 that are positively geared together by gear wheels 4, 5 for rotation at equal speeds in opposite directions, the shaft 2 being driven from an external source 23 and each of said pinions 16, 17 being connectable for rotation with its shaft by one of two electro-magnetic clutches 10, 11 alternately energizable through instantaneous change-over switch means. The switch means are associated with one or more trip members that are displaceable to adjust the traverse length.
