Abstract

The speed of a vehicle is represented by the frequency of a pulse train, a gate is opened for a predetermined period T1 to pass the pulses to a counter, at the end of T1 the gate remains closed for a further period T2 to allow a reading to be made, e.g. by lamps connected to the counter, and at the end of T2 the counter is reset. Also at the end of T2, the gate control circuit is prepared to start the next period T1 in synchronism with an input pulse.
