In a microprogramme-controlled computer. means are provided for reading out different parts of a micro-instruction at different times in a machine cycle from a microprogramme store and re-addressing a portion of the store originally containing part of such microinstruction to derive therefrom data representing the results of an arithmetic operation. In the particular embodiment, a magnetic core matrix, besides storing micro-instructions, comprises wires threading cores in a pattern to constitute a subtraction table utilized by using the subtractor and subtrahend to " address " these wires.
