Abstract
1,051,748. Rotary plug stoppers. POLYTOP CORPORATION. Sept. 3, 1964. No. 36184/64. Heading B8T. A dispensing closure for a container comprises a cap 16, a fitment 32 and a dispensing spout 56, the spout being disposed between the cap and fitment when the closure is assembled (Fig. 2, not shown) and the spout 56 being rotat - able from the closed position shown in Fig. 2 to an open position (Fig. 4, not shown) so that a passage 64 in the spout is in alignment with an opening 66 in the fitment. The cap 16 has threads 28 or other attachment means and a groove 26 for engaging a flange 36 on the fitment. The cap top 18 has a slot 22 extending partially into the skirt 20 and two studs 24 for fitting into corresponding holes 42 in the fitment. When the closure is assembled, the spout fits into a cavity 44 provided in the fitment directly below the slot 22. A cylindrical portion 58 of the spout rotatably engages a curved wall 48, containing the opening 66, and has two spigots 62 rotatably engaging curved walls 52 in the fitment. An air vent 74 is provided in the fitment (Fig. 2, not shown) and is closable by a plug 78 on the spout. A sealing ridge 70 (Fig. 2, not shown) is provided around the opening 66 and a closure ring 72 is provided to form a seal-with the container neck.
