Concrete articles are moulded by pushing concrete in a hopper, by means of a piston, through a mould space formed by fixed but replaceable upper and lower members, and side members, the position of which may be adjusted by cams to adjust the frictional force exerted on the concrete. The pressure is released while the material is moved through the mould. Reinforcing wires may be fed into the concrete through holes in the piston. Cores may be provided, e.g. on the piston, to form hollow articles. When first forming the article, an end plate may be provided for the mould.
