Abstract
1,051,064. Shaft seals. D. E. KIRKLAND. July 9, 1963 [July 12, 1962], No. 26913/62. Heading F2B. [Also in Division F1] In a rotary pump of the diametral-vane type, a pair of sealing rings 42 are lodged in a cap 43 which is attached to the exterior of the casing 18 (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) of the pump and surrounds a driving shaft 23 for a rotor 11. The rings may be made of " Polypac " (Trade Mark) and include annular lips 45, 46 which engage with the shaft 23 and a projecting sleeveportion 40 of the casing, or a washer 44 situated between the rings.
