Dihydroperoxides of diisopropylbenzene are produced from their alkaline extracts by concentrating under reduced pressure, e.g. by vacuum distillation at 20-100 mm. of mercury, preferably at 25-50 mm. mercury, and preferably at a temperature not greater than 50‹ C. to precipitate at least part of the alkali metal salts of the dihydroperoxide, washing the precipitate and suspending the precipitate in water, neutralizing the suspension with carbon dioxide, e.g. to a pH of from 8-10 and separating the precipitated product.
