Abstract

105,055. Naamlooze Vennootschap Neo-Cellulose Maatschappij. lfarch 23, 1916, [Convention date]. Addition to 24057/12. Pulp, preparation of.-In separating impurities from fibrous materials, particularly in forming clean pulp from waste paper, by agitation with two immiscible liquids as described in the parent Specification; the agitation is carried out so as to produce a layer of foam which takes up the impurities. When water and a hydrocarbon are used as the two liquids, the foam is stable, and the whole of the hydrocarbon may be contained in it. In place of a hydrocarbon, a stable foam may be obtained by the use, in conjunction, of a material to form a foam such as soda soap, and a material to render the soap-foam stable such as vaseline, animal or vegetable fats or mixtures such as margarine. The soap used in forming the foam may be used for the preliminary treatment of the fibrous materials in place of sulphides, sulphites, thiosulphates or thionates.
