Abstract

405. Deutsche Filtercompagnie Ges. Jan. 10, 1914, [Convention date]. Liquids, purifying.-In order to remove manganese and iron from water, a small quantity of a soluble permanganate is added, and the water is filtered through trachytes or their tuffs or similar highly-porous catalytically-acting volcanic rocks. The catalytic effect may be enhanced by leaving the separated manganese oxides in the filter, or by mixing with the catalytic materials a substance producing oxygen, such as an alkali peroxide. Specification 28,353/10 is disclaimed.
