Abstract
1,050,493. Microwave heating apparatus. EDEN FISHER & HIRST (MICROWAVE) Ltd. June 10, 1965 [March 13, 1964], No. 10758/64. Heading H5H. Printed paper is dried in microwave heating apparatus (no Figs. shown) comprising a plurality of adjacent series coupled wave guide sections formed by walls 19, Fig. 3, in two trays 17, 18 hinged together. The walls in each tray register together and are provided with gaps 20, Fig. 4, to allow paper to pass through the sections in succession. Energy is provided by a magnetron 26, Fig. 7, and is absorbed in a water load 27, a safety device preventing the operation of the magnetron except when the trays are together. Additional drying is obtained by a fan 28 blowing air through all or some of the sections, the air having first been used to cool the magnetron and the load.
