Novel compounds of the general formula wherein R is a para-, halo- or alkyl-phenyl radical, R 1 is a carbamyl radical N-substituted by C 1 -C 7 alkyl and R 2 is aralkyl, are prepared by reaction of the biguanide or an inorganic acid addition salt thereof with the sulphonylurea or a salt thereof. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a compound of the first formula above and a carrier therefor.
