Abstract
1,050,346. Moulding foamed plastics; refrigerator walls. SIEMENS-ELECTROGERATE G.m.b.H. June 6, 1963 [June 8, 1962], No. 22610/63. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F4] Insulating walls for a refrigerator, each comprising an outer metal or plastics shell 7, foamed plastics insulation 8, metal or plastics supporting members 3, 4 and a cured laquer or plastics coating 6, are manufactured by a process in which a mould core 1, provided with mould release agent 2, and corresponding to the internal refrigeration space, is coated with curable laquer or liquid plastics material or lined with a fabric impregnated with such curable materials, the space defined between the coating 6 and shell 7 is filled with foamed plastics material 8, coating 6 is cured and material 8 is allowed to set. The supporting members 3, 4 which become embedded in the foamed material 8 are initially applied to the core 1 either against release agent 2 (see left half of Figure, or against coating 6, see right half of Figure, and may be grooved as at 5 to receive shelves or grids and provided with anchoring elements 9.
