Abstract
1,050,304. Orientating logs. MO OCH DOMSJO A.B. Feb. 22, 1965 [Feb. 24. 1964]. No. 7617/65. Heading B8A. Logs are fed at station 2 on to cars 4 connected together by hooks and running on closed track 1 in either of the orientations shown and are delivered to station 3 orientated rootforwards by engagement of the horns 21 of the cars with guides 25, 26, 27. The engagement is controlled by point device 28 forming part of guide 25. Thus, when a log carried by a car 4 is positioned root-rearwards the point device 28 is pivoted inwards (e.g. by operation of a light beam) so that the horn 21 of the car rides behind the guide. This causes a turntable on the car to rotate till the log positions itself root-forwards for delivery at 3. One of the cars may be driven. Alternately the turntables may be carried by an endless member. Car 4 (Fig. 3, not shown).-The log rests along beams 16, 17 pivotally carried by horizontal shaft 19 which is carried by turntable 14 carried rotatably on bearing 12. The pivoting of beams 16, 17 permits discharge of the log at station 3.
