Abstract

A vulcanizable composition comprises 100 parts of poly-4-methyl-pentene-1 prepared in the presence of a cationic catalyst and 0.1 to 10.0 parts of an organic peroxide. Usual fillers, e.g. carbon black may be added. In addition the composition may also contain free sulphur or a compound which under vulcanizing conditions will provide free sulphur. Preferred peroxides are dicumyl and benzoyl peroxides. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 906,547 and 885,970.
