Abstract

1,049,632. Television. MARCONI CO. Ltd. Sept. 27, 1963 [Nov. 8, 1962], No. 42283/62. Heading H4F. [Also in Division G4] A storage-type television tube, such as a vidicon, which has a decay characteristic as shown by the full line in Fig. 1, i.e. a relatively rapid reduction in output followed by a slower reduction, is connected to a non-linear amplifier having a characteristic as shown in Fig. 3, whereby the overall decay characteristic of the combination is as shown by the dotted line in Fig. 1, i.e. a relatively slow reduction in output, followed by a more rapid reduction. The arrangement is stated to be of use for viewing objects which are subjected to intermittent illumination, for radar displays and for slow-scan television systems. The non-linear amplifier, Fig. 2, comprises a stage V1, the anode load of which is shunted by diode MR1 provided with an adjustable bias by way of cathode follower V2. The input signal from the television tube T is first clamped by circuit C controlled by pulses applied at P.
