Abstract

The depth of penetration of an implement attached to a tractor power lift mechanism is controlled by means of a ground wheel 1 which transmits signals, in response to undulations in the ground, to an arm 16 connected by a cable 17 with the hydraulic control system of the tractor. The cable 17 is supported from a pressure plate 7 which has a friction pad engagement with a support plate 4. The wheel is freely movable between abutments 13 on the pressure plate 7 to operate the cable 17 and thus the lift mechanism, but, upon an excessive amount of travel, engages one of the abutments 13 and thus moves the pressure plate, together with the cable 17, relative to the support 4 so that the cable is not then operated. In an embodiment the wheel slides vertically relative to its support and in a further embodiment, the wheel is disposed between the tractor lift links and is supported by an arm passing over one of the links.
