Abstract

Articles are dipped in hot paint containing solvent and allowed to drain under the action of gravity while held in a zone substantially saturated with solvent vapour and the solvent then allowed to evaporate. This results in a smooth coating free from running marks. Apparatus may comprise a tank for a heated paint bath and a cooling device spaced above the surface of the bath by an amount which exceeds the height of the articles being coated. Additional solvent vapour may be supplied from heated troughs of solvent, by spraying solvent into the space or allowing solvent to trickle down a wall which may be heated.
