Abstract

1,047,895. Road grooving machines. ROBERT McGREGOR & SONS Ltd. and M. McGREGOR. Sept. 22, 1965 [July 6, 1964], No. 27748/64. Heading E1G. An expansion joint groove is formed in wet concrete by a pair of rotating wobbler blades 11 followed by means 15 for removing the excess concrete. The wobbler blades 11 are driven by a motor 8 on a housing 7 vertically adjustable for depth of cut by mechanism 13. The spade-like tip 15, operating between the blades, is actuated by a crank 17 and lever 16, 14 mechanism and is held in the operative position by a spring tensioned between lugs 20. The tip 15 moves concrete from the groove to a removable container 23. After cutting, the groove is filled with polythene between hardboard until the concrete is set and then the soft filling is removed and substituted by bituminous material.
