Abstract
1,047,623. Conveyers. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. Aug. 2, 1963 [May 2, 1962], No. 16774/62. Heading B7L. A conveyer has two trolley tracks 12, 13' Fig. 1, along which trolleys are advanced by dogs on conveyer elements 11, 14 driven by power units 17, 18, each dog 22 having a trolley driving face 24, Fig. 2, which engage abutments 25, one on each trolley; the tracks 12, 13 meet at a junction J whereat trolleys on branch track 13 are moved on to main track 12. Each driving dog 22 is mounted between two plates 21 and bears on studs 30 and 34. Should a trolley catch up to the dog due to a slow moving chain, then the trolley abutment 25 engages the chamfered face 44 on the dog to pivot the dog about stud 30, the dog dropping behind abutment 25 to drive the trolley which is prevented from further advancement by a stop dog 23 somewhat similar to dog 22. To disconnect drive to a trolley a member on the trolley as described in Specification 1,047,621 moves dog 22 vertically under the guidance of straight faces 36, 37 and studs 23, 30. The stud 34 frictionally engages the face 39 of the dog to prevent unintentional rotation of the dog. The dogs 22 each have a tail 40 on which is formed the faces 24, 44 and which is of V- section at its ends 43, Fig. 9. At the junction J which includes a switch point, the branch conveyer element 14 is offset from branch trolley track 13 so that as a trolley is advanced toward the junction the tail 40 moves laterally relative to trolley abutment 25 and a tail 40 of a dog on the main conveyer element 11 then engages the opposite end of the abutment 25 to take over the drive of the trolley. Should the trolley be moving faster than the main element 11 then abutment 25 engages face 44 to raise the drive dog 22 of the main element which then drops down behind abutment 25.
