Abstract
1,046,384. Electric selectors. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. July 14, 1965 [July 14, 1964], No. 29962/65. Heading H1L. [Also in Division H2] At the cross-point of a relay matrix the connection between a magnetic polepiece 3 of magnet 2 forming the row-co-ordinate conductors and a vertical contact strip 4 is made or not made according to the position of balls 5 of magnetic material which roll into one of the two positions shown in Fig. 4 according which of two states of remanent magnetization is present in the cross-point relay core 1. Two pairs of polepieces form the magnetic system of each cross-point but one set has an insulating covering 6 on one side. Each core is linked by a row and a column magnetizing winding and turns from each of them are located along the core alternately or in alternate groups of a small number of turns. Because the polepieces are alternate north and south poles the direction of the magnetizing current for operation of the relays is different according to the row in which a core is located. To allow for this the cores of a column winding are successively wound clockwise and anticlockwise. The whole winding. arrangement with the cores may be impregnated with thermosetting resin. The description is similar to Specification 1,046,383 but the claims differ.
