Abstract
The invention comprises N,N-dimethyl-b -(p-bromoanilino)-propionamide; and the preparation thereof (1) by reacting p-bromoaniline with an N,N-dimethyl-b -halo-propionamide, or with a compound R1R2N.CH2CH2CON(CH3)2 (where R1R2N is a diloweralkylamino radical or a cyclic alkylene-imino radical, the alkylene chain optionally being interrupted by O, S or NH), or with a compound R3SO2OCH2CH2CON(CH3)2 (where R3 is methyl or tolyl), or with N,N-dimethylacrylamide, (2) by bromination, (3) by condensing b -(p-bromoanilino)-propionic acid or a functional derivative thereof with dimethylamine, or (4) by condensing b -(p-bromoanilino)-propionitrile with an aqueous solution of dimethylamine. N,N - dimethyl - b - piperidino - propionamide is prepared from piperidine and acrylic ester followed by reaction with dimethylamine. Compounds R3SO2OCH2CH2CON(CH3)2\t are prepared from methane- or toluene-sulphonyl chlorides and the hydracrylamide.ALSO:Pharmaceutical preparations of N, N-dimethyl-B-(p-bromoanilino)-propionamide are mentioned which may be administered orally or parenterally. The compound has analgesic and antiinflammatory action and may be compounded with its synergists aminopyrine, barbital or phenacetin.
